The annual CEB Talent Show, held Feb. 27th, was a huge success. With so much talent presented, the judges surely had a difficult time selecting the winner. At the end of the night, Grant Metcalf walked away with the 1st place trophy. Teachers got in the act as well. The third-grade team presented their version of "Thriller." Mrs. Syken did an amazing job (as always) with this year's talent show.

On Friday (2/20), Ms. Vidal's class and Mrs. Rutter's class enjoyed a pizza party compliments of Mrs. Lester. During our recent Literacy Week event, a challenge was issued to see which class in grades 3-5, and in grades K-2 could read the most words in a week. It was a close call but in the end, these two classes read the most words. Congratulations to the great readers in these classes and to all of the students who participated. Keep reading! Be sure to recommend your favorite books on the Destiny website. Let everyone know what you love to read.
On February 19th, best-selling children’s author, Augusta Scattergood, visited Charles E. Bennett Elementary. Mrs. Scattergood may be best known for Glory Be, one of last year’s SSYRA books. However, she has a new book, The Way to Stay in Destiny, which she graciously shared with CEB.
After an interview with the 6th grade members of our Video Production Club, Mrs. Scattergood visited with two of our fourth-grade classrooms.
We met Mrs. Scattergood when she generously donated some autographed copies of Glory Be for our Reading Challenge last fall. When she found herself in our area, she emailed and asked if she could stop by to say “hello” and to share her new book with us. Former principal, Evelyn Chastain, is a huge fan and wanted to stop in and meet our guest author.
We were honored to have Mrs. Scattergood visit with us and spend some time getting to know CEB. We are looking forward to reading The Way to Stay in Destiny and hope she’ll be back soon with another new book.
Two fourth graders joined Mrs. Lloyd and Mrs. Barrie for lunch in the library Wednesday. Autumn and Jaylin each read all 15 of this year's SSYRA books for grades 3-5. As a reward, they were treated to a lunch of their choice. These ladies opted for pizza from Pizza Hut. Keep reading!!!
Text: The School District of Clay County (SDCC) has held AdvancED’s most prestigious Accredited status since becoming a fully accredited school district in 2010. District Accreditation recognizes that increasing student achievement involves more than improving instruction. It is a result of how well all the parts of the education system – the District, school, and classroom – work together to meet the needs of students. To earn this distinction, the District and all of its schools must follow the AdvancED accreditation process by:
1. Meeting the five AdvancED Standards.
Each standard has multiple indicators that must be evaluated in order to determine if each standard is met.
2. Engaging in a continuous process of improvement.
3. Demonstrating quality assurance through internal and external reviews.
The District will conduct an extensive internal review in order to self-evaluate the extent to which it is meeting the standards. An External Review Team will visit the district in March 2015 to assess how well the District and its stakeholders are working together to meet the AdvancED’s high standards.
